What is Pickleball you ask?
Pickleball is a hybrid racquet sport that combines aspects of tennis, table tennis, and badminton. The game is played indoors or outdoors on a small court (20 feet by 44 feet, about the size of a badminton court) resembling the top of a giant Ping-Pong table. The net dividing the court is a few inches lower than the net on a tennis court. You have a net, a court, paddles, and a lightweight ball (similar to a whiffle ball). Ball itself travels slower and bounces lower than a tennis ball, making it easier to hit. Players can face off as singles or doubles.
Anyone from school-aged children to elderly retirees can enjoy the game of pickleball. Because the court is smaller than a tennis court, play is more compact and slightly less strenuous. Yet because of its non-threatening nature, pickleball is a great way to get outside and have fun.
It is Fun, Social and Friendly. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. Whether you’re a beginner who just wants to learn a new sport for fun, or you’re a seasoned player who craves the thrill of more competitive play, pickleball offers something for everyone and can be enjoyed by ALL ages.
